Should I Use a Regular or Electric Toothbrush?

Electric Toothbrush picture for Murfreesboro Family Dentistry blog.Do you recommend a regular toothbrush or an electric toothbrush?

Dr. Elizabeth Jackson: I personally use an electric toothbrush. I am a big believer that an electric toothbrush can be more effective at removing plaque from your teeth. But, one of the biggest benefits of an electric toothbrush is that it has a timer on it. Everyone should be brushing for two minutes a day.

However, when people judge two minutes when they’re brushing their teeth they, usually get around 25 to 30 seconds. Which is not as effective as it should be.

The average person needs to brush their teeth for two minutes a day and one of the biggest benefits to an electric toothbrush is that many of them have a timer associated with them. That being said, electric toothbrushes also have the ability to remove about 30% more plaque from your teeth when used effectively.
