What cosmetic procedures do you offer at Murfreesboro Family Dentistry?

We offer in-office whitening, and take-home whitening for our patients. Other cosmetic procedures that we can do are to smooth teeth to put them in line and work with all types of prosthetic devices like crowns and other pieces. We do crowns, bridges, and restore implants – all of that here in the office to help improve people’s lives.

One of the best cosmetic procedures we can do is educating patients on how to take care of their teeth so that they will last for an extended period of time.

What’s the difference between in-office and take-home whitening?

I always say that in-office whitening is immediate gratification. After your appointment here, you will notice the before and the after right away. However, it does need to be maintained with at-home whitening. At-home whitening is where we make customized trays for you to wear at home. These go along with some carbamide peroxide whitening gel, and it slowly whitens your teeth over a period of time to make sure that you’re at your whitest and brightest.

Can Whiteners Be Harmful?

There are some kinds of whiteners that can be harmful, especially if you are ordering something from online. You aren’t certain where those ingredients are coming from or if they are safe. It’s best to work with a dentist for your teeth whitening needs to make sure you stay healthy and keep your enamel happy.

So is it true that there’s only a certain amount of enamel that you have on your teeth, and once it’s gone, it’s gone forever?

Correct. Our bodies do only have a limited amount of enamel. Enamel does not regenerate itself. Once that enamel is gone, it’s gone. Other ways that enamel can be lost is through acid attack or acid wear, acid abrasion to those teeth. We want to make sure that we protect that enamel because there’s nothing better than what God gave us. And once it’s gone, it’s gone.
