What can I expect during my first exam at a new dentist? How does it work at Murfreesboro Family Dentistry?

For your first exam, and all that follow, we’re going to take good care of you. Initially, we are going to check to see if you have any type of insurance benefits. We want to have those taken care of before your appointment so that there are no surprises. Then, when you get to our office, we will greet you and take a minimum of two sets of x-rays.

Taking x-rays

First is a full mouth x-ray called a panoramic x-ray. Then we will take what are called bite-wing x-rays to help determine if that is all we need or if we need more. After that, we’ll take a full set of endoral pictures with just a camera. It’s a small little camera that’s on a stick that goes in your mouth. 

Doing an Exam

Then, we’ll do an exam. We’ll determine the overall status of your dental health. You will get a chance to tell us everything that may be a concern or anything that’s going really well for you. I will go through and show you what’s going on in your mouth and make sure that we address everything that’s needed.

The Treatment Plan

Then, we will come up with a treatment plan that will help to determine our plan of action. The plan of action is what needs to be done and in what order. We want you to be involved in your own treatment plan so that you will feel comfortable having your procedures done. Then we will either get started with a cleaning or get you scheduled for your first treatment.

We do accept many dental insurances. We are in PPO network with many different insurances and on top of that, we do take CareCredit. CareCredit is an option that many patients utilize to help make sure that they can get their dental care taken care of in a very timely manner. We also do take check, cash, and credit card payment here in the office.
